How to Choose the Right Dress Size: A Complete Guide to Getting the Perfect Fit
Finding a dress that fits beautifully is one of the most important parts of any special occasion — whether you're shopping for a wedding gown, bridesmaid dress, or formal gown. The secret to a perfect fit isn't your usual clothing size; it's your measurements. In this guide, we'll walk you through everything you need to know to choose the right size with confidence.
Why You Shouldn't Order Your Usual Size
Formal and bridal gowns are sized differently from everyday clothing. A US size 6 in a bridal gown may correspond to a completely different set of measurements than a US size 6 from your favorite retail brand. Always refer to our size chart and your actual measurements — never assume your usual size will fit.
If you're between sizes, we recommend ordering one size up or choosing our custom size option for the most precise fit.
Don't Worry About the Fit — We've Got You Covered
When we craft our gowns, we leave a 3–5 cm seam allowance along the fabric edges. This means if a dress feels slightly snug, it can easily be let out at a local tailor across the bust, waist, and hips — and if it runs large, all three measurements can be taken in just as easily.
As for silhouette: if you love an A-line style, you don't need to factor in your hip measurement when choosing a size — this silhouette accommodates all hip sizes freely. However, for mermaid or sheath/column styles, hip measurement does matter and should be taken into account.
Worried about the length? Simply leave your hollow-to-floor measurement and your heel height when placing your order, and we'll make sure the hem falls at the same length as shown in the product photos when you're wearing your shoes.
Step 1: Take Your Measurements
Before checking the size chart, you'll need four key measurements. Use a soft measuring tape and wear minimal clothing for accuracy.
NOTICE:
Please refer to the size chart on our official website for sizing. Avoid selecting based on your usual size, as this often leads to ill-fitting items. Always follow our provided sizing guidelines before purchasing. Additionally, if you're between sizes, we recommend ordering one size up or opting for a custom size.
HOW TO MEASURE:
- Measure your bust: Stand up straight with your arms hang down in a relaxed, natural pose. Measure around the fullest part of your chest. Tight up under the armpits and over the shoulder blades.
- Measure your waist: Stand up straight in a relaxed, normal position. Run the tape around the narrowest part of your natural waist. This is usually where the belly button is.
- Measure your hips: Stand with your feet together. Measure around the fullest part of your hips and rear. This is typically midway between your crotch and your belly button.
- Measure your Hollow to Floor: Stand up straight with bare feet together. Measure from the center of the collarbone, down to where the hem of the dress shoulder hit (excluding any train).

Step 2: Compare with Our Size Chart
Once you have your measurements, find the row in our size chart that best matches all four figures. If your measurements fall between two sizes, always size up.

Step 3: Consider Custom Sizing
If none of the standard sizes match your measurements perfectly, we strongly recommend choosing our custom size option. Simply provide your exact bust, waist, hip, and hollow-to-floor measurements, and we'll craft a gown tailored specifically for you.
If you prefer not to opt for custom sizing, simply choose one size up — you can have it tailored smaller once you receive it.
Special Tip: Long-Sleeved Dresses
If you're purchasing a dress with long sleeves, please also provide your armhole circumference, upper arm circumference, arm length, and wrist circumference in the order's Additional Comments field. This ensures your sleeves fit just as beautifully as the rest of the gown.
The following are the measurement methods:
Armhole Circumference
Upper Arm Circumference
Arm Length
Wrist Circumference
